History of Alexander Funeral Home-North Chapel
When Southern Indiana families were using oil lamps because there were no light bulbs, traveling by horse-drawn carriages and communicating by telegram, Alexander Funeral Service was there to help them through difficult times. When Isaac Alexander founded the firm in the 1880s, before the Wright Brothers took their first flight, and before the radio was even invented, he surely had no idea he was starting a family tradition that would span more than five generations.

Isaac’s son, Alvah D., and his son, Kenneth G., devoted their entire lives to funeral service. Today, Kenneth’s son, Thomas A., and his sons, Matthew, Andrew, and Jonathan, are carrying on the family tradition. The Alexander’s original horse-drawn coach is presently on display at the Evansville Museum.
