History of Alexander Funeral Home

Alexander Funeral Home was founded by the Alexander brothers on Delmar Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1897. Throughout the years, the Alexander family offered full-service funerals at multiple locations in the St. Louis area. The purchase of Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann, Missouri, in 1924 enabled them to add cemetery services to their business.

The Alexander brothers were innovators and leaders in Midwest funeral services, holding many patents for improving equipment, and performing the first motorized funeral service in St. Louis history in 1911. In 1971, Alexander Chapel was opened on the grounds of Mount Lebanon Cemetery, where it still stands today.

The funeral home and cemetery joined the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in 1986, and built a new funeral home facility in 1995 on the grounds of Mount Lebanon. Alexander Funeral Home is proud to offer innovation with respect for all the families we serve.

Mount Lebanon Cemetery is nestled on 43 acres between Lindberg Boulevard and Saint Charles Rock Road in St. Ann, Missouri. Founded in 1898, Mount Lebanon was purchased by the Alexander Brothers Funeral Home in 1924. The Alexanders showed innovation in the funeral and cemetery industry by placing a funeral home on the cemetery grounds in 1934, offering full-service funeral and cemetery services from the same facility.

With mature tree-lined boulevards, Mt. Lebanon has more than 15,000 burials, a mausoleum and many cremation options. With an abundance of ground burial spaces available (more than 10,000) and room to grow, Mount Lebanon will serve families well into the 21st century.

We’re proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Dignity Memorial providers offer exclusive benefits, including National Transferability of Prearranged Services, Bereavement Travel Services, a 24-Hour Compassion Helpline® and much more.

As North America’s premier provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services, the Dignity Memorial brand is your assurance of quality, value, caring service and exceptional customer satisfaction.
