Baldwin-Lee Funeral Homes originated in May 1929 as Baldwin Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi, with the purchase of the old Hardy Funeral Home on South President Street by Mr. Owen Baldwin. One year later, Mr. Baldwin moved the business to Manship Street in Jackson where he operated the business until 1951.
That year, the ownership changed as Owen's brother, Bill Baldwin, purchased the business, and in 1972 the family purchased Adkins Funeral Home on Robinson Road in Jackson where it remained in the Baldwin family until 1975. It was that year that Joe Lee, a former employee of Baldwin Funeral Homes, purchased the funeral home from the family and renamed it Baldwin-Lee. The funeral home remained under his supervision and guidance until his retirement from the business in 1990.
