History of Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel & Bayview Memorial Park

Fisher-Pou was established in 1868 by Felix Bonifay, making it the oldest, continuously running funeral home in the state of Florida. In 1987, 101 years later, Fisher-Pou built a satellite chapel on the grounds of Bayview Memorial Park. Ten years after that the funeral home was re-located there, where it has remained.

Bayview Memorial Park was established in 1947 with only 6,000 burial spaces available at the time. Dora McAlister was the first interment that took place on July 2, 1947. The spaces were selling for around $50-$60 each at that time. Today Bayview Memorial Park has over 22,000 loved ones in our care. Situated on more than 57 acres, 11 of which is un-developed, Bayview provides a beautiful and quiet place to honor the memory of your loved ones. It is a perpetual care cemetery complete with mature trees, seasonal flowers and well-kept, plush landscape.
