History of Colonial Funeral Home
Colonial Funeral Home began operation in Universal City, Texas, on February 14, 1980. James J. (Jack) Estes and Hardy Henderson were the Funeral Directors and owners. Mr. Estes became ill in 1984, at which time Hardy Henderson purchased his interest in the funeral home.

In November 1995, Colonial Funeral Home was granted a new certificate of occupancy for a second chapel, thereby adding seating accommodations for an additional 270 people.

In January 1999, Colonial Funeral Home was acquired by an affiliate of Service Corporation International and ultimately became part of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.

Colonial Funeral Home began with a commitment to a high standard of service more than 40 years ago, and throughout our history we have continued to lead and innovate while maintaining those high standards of service. Everyone at Colonial Funeral Home is proud to uphold this heritage and commitment to the community.
