History of Edwards Funeral Home
Delmar D. Edwards and his wife Hazel founded Edwards Funeral Home in 1933. With the help of his nephew, J.D. Edwards, Delmar moved to a new facility at 12th and B streets in 1936. In 1939 a fire destroyed the home, and a new facility was built in 1940.
Delmar T. Edwards, son of Delmar D. and Hazel, began working at the firm at age 17, in 1942. In 1960, the building was enlarged and the Delmar D. Edwards Chapel was built in 1961.
Delmar "Butch" Edwards (son of Delmar T. and Elizabeth Edwards) joined the business in 1969, and grew the company from one location to three. The Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas was built in 1978, and the Fentress Mortuary was purchased in 1979. Jim R. Edwards joined the business in 1978, and along with his brother Butch, they continue a commitment to a high standard of service excellence.
Everyone at Edwards Funeral Home is proud to uphold the heritage that began with the vision and leadership of Delmar D. Edwards.
