In October of 1896, R.E. Elliott Sr. started his undertaking establishment and, throughout the years, saw it grow into one of the largest in the area. His first establishment was located above his furniture store on Broad Street, but soon moved to Eleventh and Ellis Streets. The funeral home later moved to Telfair Street.
Mr. Elliott was the first undertaker in Georgia to use motorized funeral hearses. His profession brought him in contact with families at times when the heaviest grief was visiting them. His tenderness, kindness, and consideration in serving those visited by sorrow endeared him to the hearts of many.
Today, we have grown to offer three locations to serve the families of Augusta and surrounding communities. With service to the counties of Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, Burke, Jefferson, Warren in Georgia and Aiken, Edgefield and McCormick in South Carolina, we are committed to providing service excellence and are proud to be a part of the Dignity Memorial® national network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers.
