Funeral planning

Whether you are planning for the future or are in a time of immediate need, we are here to help walk you through how to plan a funeral or a celebration of life.

How to plan a funeral

Today more people are choosing a celebration of life over a traditional funeral. Your family services counselor or pre-planning advisor, can walk you through the process, whether you choose a traditional funeral, a cremation or a celebration of life. No matter the format you choose, you can expect to take the steps below:

  • Gather personal ideas around preferences that you or your loved one has.
  • Schedule a meeting, often called an arrangement conference with the location of your choice.
  • Review packages and offerings of your selected location.
  • Consider friends or family members whom you want to be involved.
  • Delegate. If your need is now, you’ll want someone close to you to help handle the details. If you are planning ahead, select the person you want to make sure your wishes are carried out as planned.

Planning for immediate need

Losing a loved one is an emotional and hard thing to experience. You might find your head spinning but rest assured that we are here to help guide you through the process. Here are the first things you need to know:

Make a first call.

You must make a “first call” in order for a funeral service provider to take your loved one into their care. Making this first call to us does not commit you to our services. We know this is a stressful time and want to help while you decide the type of services you want and where they will be held.

You have service options.

Your Dignity Memorial provider is not just a funeral home. We can help you plan a traditional funeral, burial, cremation or celebration of life at the location of your choice.

You can customize.

No matter where you choose to host your service or celebration, you can customize the details. Most merchandise and services are sold in packages, but our flexible options allow you to create a service personal to your family and loved one.
