Abduction Prevention Program Available for Kids

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - June 26, 2013

To arm children and their parents with knowledge and techniques to avoid or escape abduction, Hardage Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home / Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville is offering to conduct the Dignity Memorial® Escape School® program to the community. Call 904-781-9262 for more information and to request the presentation be made for your organization.

Presented in an entertaining and non-threatening manner, this FREE program teaches children ages 6-12 how to differentiate between good and bad strangers, the common lures abductors use, how to “get away, right away” and how to find help when needed. In addition to teaching key concepts, presenters engage children in demonstrations featuring several simple yet highly effective techniques for escaping dangerous situations.

“The summer break can be a particularly dangerous time for children,” said Roger Delaney, a trained Dignity Memorial Escape School presenter and general manager of Hardage Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home / Riverside Memorial Park. “With less adult supervision than usual and departure from their regular routines, children can be particularly distracted and vulnerable this time of year.”

Child abduction is often a difficult topic for many parents to discuss with their children, yet it is a frightening reality in communities today. The Dignity Memorial Escape School program, conducted by trained Dignity Memorial funeral care professionals, is designed so that children can learn life-saving techniques and begin this important dialogue with their parents.

Since the program’s inception in 1996, Dignity Memorial Escape School has been presented to more than five million families across the United States and Canada. Several children and one adult have credited the program with saving their lives.

For more information about Dignity Memorial Escape School or to bring the program to your organization, contact Roger Delaney at Riverside Memorial Park at 904-781-9262.
