HOUSTON (Jan. 27, 2014) – Service Corporation International (SCI), North America’s largest single provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services, has awarded a $10,000 grant to a mortuary program that is working to enhance the mortuary sciences for tomorrow’s funeral service professionals.

This year’s SCI Advancing Mortuary Science Education Grant has been awarded to Tidewater Community College Funeral Services Program to support their Advancing Mortuary Science Education through Simulation of Funeral Planning with Technology

“Upon completion of this project, we at TCCFS will be able to provide our students with the enhanced digital training needed to simulate funeral planning with the use of technology currently being used by professionals in the field,” says Frank Walton, Program Director of Tidewater Community College, and “This grant from SCI has assisted in making the implementation of this concept possible.”
