Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services had its start in the early 1900s on Davis Street in Keene when Charles Fletcher saw the need for the services within the growing community.
In 1933 the business was relocated to its present location at 33 Marlboro Street. The funeral home moved into a mid-1800s colonial farmhouse that still houses the business today. Over the next 70-plus years, restoration, renovation and additions have created the building that serves the community now, and will into the future, while still maintaining the aesthetic appearances and historical integrity that the business was founded on.
In 1957 Mr. Fletcher sold the business to Roger O. Schick. Mr. Schick continued to run the Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the same dedicated attention to detail and focus on the families for the next 18 years. He then continued the traditions of Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services by selling it to Thomas R. Eaton in 1975.
Under Mr. Eaton’s ownership, the business’ reputation and standing in the community continued to grow. With even more renovations and the construction of an additional chapel area, Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services was poised to become one of the region’s most respected and capable funeral service providers. After nearly 25 years of providing for the families of the region, Mr. Eaton sold the funeral home.
In 1999 the transition was made, and Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services became part of the Keystone America group. Under new ownership, the funeral home continued to be operated with the same level of dedication and concern for the families that our reputation was built on. Long-term employee Douglas L. Mealey became the managing director and continues that tradition.
Service Corporation International merged with Keystone America in 2010, and Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services was added to the Dignity Memorial® network. Still managed and operated by the same dedicated and local staff, Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services plans to be here to continue to serve and honor the families of our communities for years to come.
