History of Forsyth Memorial Park
Forsyth Memorial Park was founded by J.T. Fender and F.R.S. Embry of Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C. in 1930. In 1936, they joined with Henry Lonsford, who was considered one of the leading cemetery men in America. Mr. Lonsford began the foundation for Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. He also developed two more cemeteries in Chicago, one in Detroit, two in Toronto, Canada and his own in Buffalo, NY. Their dream in creating Forsyth Memorial Park was to establish the finest cemetery in the South. Our goal today is to make their dream a reality.

A former notable owner of the park is Gwyn Harris of Harris Vault Company, now known as Imperial Vault Company, King NC.
