About

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus is dedicated to providing the Columbus, Georgia, area with compassionate, professional and personal funeral services. We understand losing a loved one is an emotional and difficult experience, and we are committed to helping you celebrate a life like no other, even in the midst of grief.

A standard of excellence in funeral service

With decades of history and tradition, Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus sets the standard for funerals in Columbus and guarantees your total satisfaction. In addition to the finest funeral home facilities, we have a detail-oriented, compassionate staff with many years of combined experience. They can assist you in the arrangement of funerals, visitations, celebrations of life, memorial services and cremations.

A beautiful Columbus funeral home

Service room at Striffler-Hamby MortuaryOur elegantly furnished funeral home provides a sophisticated place for memorializing your loved one. The chapel has hardwood flooring, chandeliers, a baby grand piano and an updated sound system. Our audio-visual technology includes a drop-down screen for showing photographs or videos. For a very large funeral or memorial, we can broadcast onto screens in our staterooms, allowing us to accommodate up to 300 people for a service.

Celebration of life services

Special touches make a service personal and meaningful. The reading of a treasured verse or a color scheme can help make your or your loved one’s funeral a personal reflection. We can help you explore the possibilities for creating a truly personalized memorial. Or if your desire is to have a simple traditional service or laid-back gathering, we can help you arrange that too. Whether formal or casual, we want the funeral you plan to exceed your every expectation. We excel at managing even the smallest details so that your vision is thoughtfully and expertly brought into focus.

We take great care in designing creative tributes. Whether you are planning ahead for yourself or planning the services of a loved one, Striffler-Hamby can help you select music and mementos for a fitting celebration of life. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to telling a life story. In fact, the International Cemetery and Cremation Association honored us with the Keeping It Personal award in 2015.

Memorial events

We honor veterans

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus understands the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level One Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we have a staff who is knowledgeable in the benefits available to veterans and their families. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one. Ask your Striffler-Hamby funeral director about the military funeral honors available to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines and National Guard.

We also maintain a close partnership with the National Infantry Museum, which works to honor the legacy of U.S. Army infantryman. Located in Columbus, the museum is home to the Dignity Memorial Vietnam Wall, a ¾-scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. For more than a decade the replica traveled to more than 200 cities across the country; it now has a permanent place at the museum.

Commitment to community

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus is open to the community for events such as weddings, professional meetings and tours. We offer sessions in which members of the community can explore the benefits of pre-planning a funeral and the history of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary while connecting with friends and neighbors.

Several members of our staff are involved in local Rotary clubs and other organizations. We work with the Better Business Bureau, Family Center, Counseling Center of Columbus and the National Infantry Museum.

Some of the cherished events held throughout the year include a Christmas candlelight service, gospel singings and a Memorial Day service in conjunction with local Sons of the American Revolution.
