History of Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes

The name Gorsline-Runciman has for many years been considered synonymous with excellence and integrity in the Lansing area. Our reputation is built upon four generations of family commitment to the communities we serve.

This commitment is deeply rooted in the work ethic of our founders. Floyd A. Gorsline began the business as a combination furniture store and undertaking operation at our Williamston location in 1903. Insistence upon the highest standards of quality and professionalism was the well-known hallmark of F. A. Gorsline and Sons. With the merging of the Gorsline-Runciman Company and the Ball-Dunn Funeral Home of Mason in 1972, Ball-Dunn’s prestigious tradition was enthusiastically embraced. Angus MacDonald founded the Mason firm in 1868 as a carpentry and undertaking business. Again, the artisan’s sensibilities and craftsman’s meticulous attention to quality formed an exceptional approach to funeral service.

Today, we continue to adhere to the values and principles of our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers. While funeral service has experienced many changes and has evolved over the years, we have found these tenets to still be wonderfully suited to providing compassionate care to our families. Gorsline-Runciman continues to provide a thoughtful and quality-conscious service that is deeply respectful of the deceased and which offers a caring response to the needs and desires of the family. We are proud of our heritage and remain committed to providing excellence in service to every family we feel privileged to serve.
