History of Green Funeral Home
Founder T. Raymond Green opened the doors to Green Funeral Home at 57 Main Street on October 14, 1935 in his hometown of Danbury, Connecticut. He and his wife, Marion, also resided here, where they not only worked but raised their two children. Eleven years after Green Funeral Home opened its doors, Mr. Green passed away and Mrs. Green obtained her funeral directors license and took full charge of the business.

Mrs. Green ran a successful business and established strong ties with the Portuguese community, which continues to help our business thrive today. Many families who come to Green Funeral Home have fond memories of Mrs. Green and always speak highly of her integrity and kindness. The Green legacy and values did not end with her, however. In 1964 Thomas R. Green, Mr. and Mrs. Green’s only son, became a funeral director and began his career in the family business.

Tom was born and raised in Danbury, growing up at 57 Main Street. Later in 1966 he moved with his wife, Mary, to an apartment on the property and resided there until his growing family required a larger home. Due to Tom’s life-long history in Danbury, his local political and personal involvement in the community, and his success as a reputable and kind business owner, it seems the entire community knows him. He always takes the time to talk to families, even if it is just in passing. When families in need call the funeral home, they will sometimes want to talk to “Tommy.” There is a feeling of kinship and history between Tom and the families that only a lifetime of service can create. Without the foundation that the Green family has built, Green Funeral Home would not have the success and reputation it does today.

In 2006 Green Funeral Home was purchased by Keystone America, and we continue to hold the same Green family values. Today Tom Green is still ever-present and, along with the other funeral directors and staff, Green Funeral Home is one of the most-respected and well-known funeral homes in the area.
