Since 1955, Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home has been serving the needs of families in the Spokane Valley and surrounding area. John B. Hazen and Charles P. Jaeger opened this funeral home to complement their existing facilities located in the downtown Spokane area. They began serving the Spokane area from that location in 1910 and in 1952, began planning to expand their capabilities to serve families more conveniently in the eastern part of the county, now known as the City of Spokane Valley.
The construction began and was completed in 1955 when they opened the doors to a new and more modern facility at 1306 N. Pines Road.
The building contained the largest service chapel in the Spokane area with a capacity of 300 guests and the most modern entry, visitation rooms and preparation facility to date. Since that time, the facilities have been updated to include a reception room for after-service gatherings and meetings and a state-of-the-art sound system and video projection system.
Hazen & Jaeger have served as
leaders in the funeral service profession.
Mr. Hazen served as the first president of the National Embalmers Association and as president of the Washington State Association of Morticians for eight years.
Hazen and Jaeger have been serving the Spokane community longer than any other funeral home, and have maintained a strong commitment to its early pledge of “
Courtesy, Kindness and Service.” This commitment to serving the Spokane community has not been limited to only serving funeral-related needs. The founders, their families and staff have served the Spokane community in many different ways, including service organizations such as Kiwanis, on school boards and on the boards of several local charities, foundations and senior housing. They have actively supported the arts, various churches, civic groups and fraternal organizations, and many have proudly served in the armed forces.
In a continued commitment to our community, we provide training for children’s safety through our Dignity Memorial Escape School® program, bringing a vital abduction prevention message to children at their schools, churches and other venues. We also offer programs for adults through Dignity Memorial Smart & Safe Living®, which provides helpful safety tips and information.
Since the beginning of Hazen & Jaeger in 1910 and through the addition of Hazen & Jaeger Valley in 1955, the rich legacy of serving families in their time of need continues. Our caring staff is committed to providing you the highest quality of personal service available both at the time of need and when making plans for the future. Hazen & Jaeger Valley’s reputation of caring, compassion and excellence is your assurance that we will be here when you need us.
