With roots dating back to 1925, Heritage Chapel Funeral Home has served the families of Tuscaloosa and West Alabama for over 80 years.
In 1925, George Spigener and H. Grady Jones opened the Jones and Spigener Funeral Home in downtown Tuscaloosa, located near where the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa currently stands. Jones and Spigener Funeral Home served the people of Tuscaloosa, Northport and West Alabama in its downtown location until 1960. In 1960, the funeral home was relocated to a new facility at 1805 8th Avenue and went through several name changes.
In August 1996, a beautiful new state-of-the art facility was built at our current location on Highway 216. At the time of the relocation, and in honor of the rich heritage of service to the families of Tuscaloosa, Northport and West Alabama, the funeral home was re-dedicated as Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
Today, we’re proud to be a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. The Heritage tradition started in historic downtown Tuscaloosa with a commitment to the community and a high standard of service. Throughout our history we have continued to lead and innovate while maintaining those high standards of service. Everyone at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is proud to uphold this heritage and commitment to our community.
