Founded in 1858 by Henry Birkenkamp, H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home was the first funeral home in Toledo, Ohio.

Just two years after his arrival in the United States from Germany, Birkenkamp started as a livery and carriage service business, offering 36 white Arabian horses, 16 carriages and an ambulance service.

Over the years, H.H. Birkenkamp evolved into the finest funeral facility in Toledo. The quality service continues with a modern facility and the fifth generation of the Birkenkamp family providing service to the community. We’re locally managed by great-great-granddaughter and Funeral Director, Susan Birkenkamp.
