On December 12, 1952, R. Jay Kraeer and his wife, Lorraine, opened the doors of what is now Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 200 North Federal Highway, Pompano Beach, Florida. It was the first funeral home in the city of Pompano Beach. We now have seven Kraeer Funeral homes in Broward County. Over the years, our funeral homes and employees have been very active in the community, sponsoring many fundraising events (from golf tournaments to fashion shows) to help support many organizations.
On December 12, 1957, R. Jay Kraeer opened his second funeral home in Boca Raton, Florida. It was followed by others facilities at 1199 East Sample Road in Pompano Beach (1961), 217 East Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach (1963), 4061 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale (1966), 1 North State Road 7 in Margate (1972), and 1655 North University Drive in Coral Springs (1980). Most recently, the Kraeer Mason Funeral Home and Cremation Center opened at 6701 West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac, Florida.
Kraeer was a mentor and inspiration to many funeral directors and employees throughout his life. His commitment to a higher standard of service is carried on today with our association with the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral homes, cemeteries and crematories.
