History of Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, Inc.
Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home’s history dates back to 1870 when Ethel Smith, daughter of community leader John I. Smith, married J. Howard Lanterman. Smith took Lanterman into his funeral business, which became Smith & Lanterman Undertakers and Furniture Dealers. After several name changes, various business partners and the closure of the furniture store, Robert M. Allen joined the firm in 1972, making it Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home.
