In 1918, Mr. R.J. McEwen and his sons answered the call to serve as undertakers and care for the families of Mint Hill, North Carolina. They began their service from the back of their furniture and hardware store located at "The Square" of Mint Hill. In 1926, R.J.’s son, Carl J. McEwen founded what is known today as McEwen Funeral Service of Mint Hill. From his vision, McEwen Funeral Service has grown to five funeral home locations, serving all areas of metropolitan Charlotte and the surrounding counties.
