Ann was born January 25, 1935, in Columbia, SC, and grew up in Charleston, SC where she attended Ashley Hall School, followed by two years at Converse College before marrying Andrew J. Glenn III. They were married August 27, 1955, at the Summerall Chapel at The Citadel.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those that knew her. She was very adventurous and passed along her love of gardening, cooking, sewing, art, and all sorts of outdoor activities to her children. With the family she learned to water ski, snow ski, scuba dive and even learned to fly a plane, receiving her pilot’s license. When Ann and A.J. retired to Darien, GA, they were very active in the coastal community. Ann loved her church family at the First Baptist Church in Darien.
Ann was predeceased by her father, Rudolph Rustin, her mother, Alif Rustin, her brother, Rudy Rustin, and her husband, A.J. Glenn. She is survived by her brother (Dowse Rustin), her four children Alif McKean (Tom) of Pensacola FL, Drew Glenn (Jane) of St. Simons Island and their children Jack Glenn (Meaghan) and Lizzie Chadwick (Conner), Becky Cook (Mark) of Palm Harbor FL, and Rusti Spence (Randy) and their children Ryan, Conner, Brad and Cole.
Though our mother, Ann, will be missed by her family, many friends and others, we are confident that we will see her again. The memories and lessons mom taught us will forever be engraved in our souls and her love continues to inspire us to pass on to others, what we learned from her.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at Marsh’s Edge for their loving care of Ann. A Memorial Service honoring Ann’s life will be held at 11:00 am and visitation at 10:00 am on August 28, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Darien, GA. Internment will follow at the Columbarium at The Citadel at a future date.
