Joan Mary Smith

Joan M. Smith, 93, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Joan was born in Mishawaka, IN, and was the daughter of Omer and Cecilia Goossens. She was a member of the Fort Wayne Duplicate Bridge Club obtaining the title of Ruby Life Master. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing bridge and spending time with her family. Surviving are her children, Patricia (Chris) Carver, Michael (Cammy) Smith, Pete (Tami) Smith and Christopher (Sherri) Smith; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and brother, Joe (Janice) Goossens. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Smith; grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Alexander Smith and Teddie Rose Carver. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 am Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church with calling one hour prior. Calling also will be held from 4-8 pm Sunday, May 5, 2024 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 E. Dupont Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46825. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Riley Children’s Hospital. Joan will be laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, IN.
