Obituary of Linda Sue Sullivan
After 22 years of battling a rare cancer, Linda Sue Sullivan, 71, passed away peacefully at home in Fort Wayne, on April 27, 2024. Linda was born on June 27, 1952 in Hammond, Indiana. She graduated in 1970 from Highland High School and then earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University in 1974. Her teaching career began in Hammond and Michigan City, Indiana. Eventually she ended up in Fort Wayne Community Schools, where she worked until retirement. She was a dedicated art teacher for grades K-5 and she cherished her years teaching at Lincoln and Shambaugh Elementary. She loved her students and her co-workers and gave everything to her job. She brought out the best in all she met. Linda met the love of her life, Mike, in college. They got married on June 5th, 1976 and raised two children, Lauren and Jim, and had a wonderful time whether hanging at home or going on vacations. Linda brought fun and joy to everything she did. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids whether doing art projects or having them for sleepovers. Linda was a gifted artist and enjoyed watercolors, oils, acrylics and other mediums. She was a creative and kind soul and found beauty in almost every situation. Linda is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Lauren (Greg) Estes of Fort Wayne; and two grandchildren, Norah (13) and Walden (11). Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Marian Lorton; and son, James C. Sullivan. A celebration of her life will be held at D.O. McComb & Sons - Pine Valley, 1320 E Dupont Rd, Fort Wayne, on May 25, 2024 from 1-5pm. Linda wanted this event to be joyful gathering of friends and family to share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana, 6316 Mutual Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
