Joyce Lee Ray

Joyce Lee Ray, 65 of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024. She was born in Lynchburg on May 30, 1958, daughter of the late James H. Ray, Sr. and the late June B. Ray. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Ray, Jr. and Joe Ray as well as a nephew, Bobby Ray. Joyce had worked for Thousand Trails for over 40 years, her last position being that of manager. She was of the Methodist faith, and was a graduate of EC Glass class of 1976 and Longwood College class of 1981. Anyone that knew her appreciated her bluntness. You always knew where you stood with her. Left to cherish her memory is a brother, Jerry W. Ray (Teresa); four nieces and nephews, Melissa Ray, Curtis Ray (Mary), James Ray (Alyssa) and Ashley Orman (TC); five great nieces and nephews, Asher Ray, Micah Ray, Thomas Orman, Mason Orman, and Ava Orman. She is also survived by her close friends, Mary Bryant, Lisa Desalis, and Dick Roche. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
