Jean Bailey

Etta Jean Bailey, age 88, of North Chesterfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning April 30, 2024. Jean was born in Goodlettsville, Tennessee on July 24, 1935 and was one of the three children of Paul and Ollie Pugh. She graduated high school in 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Dianne B. McNamee; and her twin sister, Joyce McGrath. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Bailey; her son, Bob Bailey (Michelle), her daughter, Donna Bailey (Lee); and her youngest daughter, Sarah Bailey (Mickey); and her son-in-law, Kevin McNamee; grandchildren, Lauren, Erin, Kendall, Justin and Kyle; and great-grandchildren, McKinley, Reagan and Carson; she is also survived by her brother, Donald Pugh. Jean and Robert first met in their teens and they married in 1957. Once married Jean moved to Richmond. They loved bowling, playing cards, spending time boating and being near the water and family gatherings. Much of Jean’s early years were spent at home taking care of her children, while Robert operated the family grocery store, Bailey’s Market. Jean’s positive, kind, gentle nature, love for her family and friends, as well as her strong faith and belief in God, was an inspiration to all that knew her. Jean will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like you to join them for a graveside service at noon on Wednesday May 8th, at Dale Memorial Park.
