History of Pleasant Valley Memorial Park
In 1963, the family estate of George Simmons, a long-time Fairfax county resident, was sold to a small firm of developers who saw the need for a family-oriented cemetery opened to all people. The office at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park stands on the same site as the original homestead and the five towering Black Walnut trees still surround this area. Pleasant Valley has many local dignitaries and socially-prominent people interred at the location. We have also been recognized by the Fairfax History commission with a plaque denoting the re-interments of ten slaves from the County’s Guinea Road Cemetery.
