Since the beginning of Sandy Springs Chapel in 1962, it has been our goal to provide our community with professional, caring service. As the community’s choice in funeral service for nearly 40 years, we do not settle for anything but the finest for the families who put their trust in us.
In 1962, the residence and property at the corner of Mt. Vernon Highway and Sandy Springs Circle was purchased. The location was in an older, established neighborhood adjacent to Arlington Memorial Park and accessible from many directions. The property at one time included the spring from which Sandy Springs had originated and taken its name. The residence, known as the Cochran home, was remodeled and Sandy Springs Chapel opened in September 1962. In 1967, the property next door was purchased adjoining the funeral home and Sandy Springs United Methodist Church properties. In 1977, the property on the northern boundary was purchased adjoining the funeral home and Arlington Memorial Park.
In 1966, a new chapel was added, more than doubling the facility’s seating capacity. As the community continued to grow, so did our facility. In 1970, the west wing was built, adding reposing rooms, offices and work areas. Shortly thereafter, facilities for the Jewish community were added. Renovations took place again in 1984 and total redecorating occurred in 1990.
In 1993, we saw the need for further expansion to better serve our community. Sandy Springs Chapel doubled its capacity, added a unique chapel and gained a new look. Throughout the years, our facility has gone through many changes and renovations, but our dedication to the community never changed.
