History of T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home
T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home was founded in 1887, by Timothy George McCarthy, who served as the first Mayor of Pueblo and as the Pueblo County Sheriff. The funeral home was also the first licensed in the State of Colorado, and was originally located at 110-112 N. Main Street. T.G. McCarthy was one of the founding members of the Colorado Funeral Directors Association.

McCarthy had three sons, two of which, Henry and Raymond, continued the family tradition of operating the funeral home until 1956, at which point Raymond purchased his brother’s business interest, and built the new mortuary at 329 Goodnight Ave. Raymond’s son Timothy G. McCarthy II took ownership of the business in 1960.
