In the mid 1800s Ed Settegast was operating one of the finest livery companies in Houston, while John Kopf was a cabinet maker. In 1901, Ed Settegast, and John Kopf combined their businesses, establishing the first funeral home in Houston.
By 1927, the business was under the direction of Emma Settegast, with the help of brothers, Ed and John Morrow. The business remained in the family until it was purchased by John Morrow in 1963.
In 1970, The Settegast-Kopf Company was acquired by an affiliate of Service Corporation International. In 1993, the Settegast-Kopf tradition expanded to include our Sugar Land, Texas, location, where we are still operating to this day.
Ed Settegast and John Kopf began with a vision to provide the highest standard of service to area families, and for more than hundred years we have remained true to this commitment. The staff at The Settegast-Kopf Company is proud to serve the families of our community and to continue the rich tradition started by our founders.
