Warren C. Tinkler, a Kansas native, began his career in the funeral profession in 1925. He served as president of the Fresno County and California Funeral Directors Associations as well as a deputy for seven years under Coroner J. Herman Kennedy.
In 1965 the business was purchased by the Copner family, who has operated it since.
Our firm originally was located at 1459 Van Ness where the Pacific Telephone Office now sits and was known as Powell Undertaking Company. Later, our firm relocated to its current Mission Revival-style building. After moving to the new building, the name was changed to Mission Chapel of Powell Undertaking Company.
Our location was designated a historical building and was added to the local official roster of historical buildings on September 27, 1979. This unique facility is located on the corner of North Broadway and Belmont Avenues in Fresno, California, where we served thousands of San Joaquin Valley families over the years.
