History of Willwood Burial Park

Willwood Burial Park was established in 1921 by William Woodruff, a Rockford banker. Mr. Woodruff was the founder of Willwood and its name comes from the first four letters in his first and last name. His vision saw these beautiful rolling hills as a “new” concept for a cemetery that would be created by a landscape architect, where nature played a large part in its beauty. Willwood’s beauty gained widespread acclaim in magazines and newspapers throughout the country.

In 2004, Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services was added to Willwood Burial Park, where families have the opportunity to take care of all their cemetery and funeral needs at one location. To better serve families, we are closely affiliated with two other locations in the Rockford area, which includes Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.

Willwood is situated on 80 acres with gentle rolling hills, large, well-established trees, and well-kept landscaping. Willwood provides a beautiful and quiet place to honor the memory of your loved ones.
