

Ft. Myers- Melvin Valentine Koshiol, age 88, passed away on February 25, 2020. Mel was born to Aloys and Eleanor (Jonas) Koshiol in St. Cloud, MN.
Mel was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea. As a life-long employee of 3M Mel began as a machinist and ended his career as an executive working on projects around the world. Mel was a passionate volunteer at both the VA Hospital in Cape Coral and at Fort Myers Rescue Mission. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
Mel was preceded in death by his brother David and son Kris.
He is survived by his wife Char (Wall), the love of his life, with whom he shared more than forty years, his sisters Beatrice Morrison, Carol Sheridan, Florence Holzknecht, and sister-in-law Kathy Koshiol, daughters Karen Kopp (Larry), and Kim Koshiol, and son Kevin (Sherra) and their mother Carmen, as well as step-children Cori Hayes, Stephen Nerheim (Tina), and Julie Erlandson, sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and devoted friends.
A celebration of Mel’s life will be held in the Atrium at Seven Lakes Golf & Tennis Community in Fort Myers on Friday, March 6, 2020, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. An interment service will be held in the spring at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, MN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Mel’s memory to the Fort Myers Rescue Mission at 6900 Mission Lane, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
