We have called Ann Arbor home since 1840, when we opened as one of Michigan’s first funeral homes. History

Florian C. Muehlig, a German cabinetmaker, founded Muehlig Funeral Chapel to create a funeral home in Ann Arbor. Born in 1810 in Rossbach, Bavaria, Muehlig came to Ann Arbor in 1840. Muehlig Funeral Chapel enjoys the distinct honor of being one of the oldest funeral homes in the state of Michigan, steeped in a tradition of community service and compassionate care.
