Service room at Dunbar Funeral Home - NortheastOur facility provides a dignified, comforting atmosphere and has spacious open areas for all events associated with funeral services. Our funeral home features include state-of-the-art audiovisual systems, an on-site crematory, multiple gathering spaces and a refreshment center.

Dunbar Funeral Home  Northeast is an integral part of the continuing legacy that Dunbar Funeral Homes has enjoyed in the Midlands. For more than 100 years, 5 generations of Dunbars have upheld a family tradition of striving for the highest standards in funeral services in Columbia, South Carolina.

Cremation services

The mortuary has a private on-site crematory, which means your loved one never leaves our care. Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, and more and more people are choosing cremation over more traditional burial options, but most people aren’t familiar with all of their choices when it comes to cremation. You may choose a direct cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind; a funeral with the body present, followed by cremation; or a cremation followed by a cemetery service or a celebration of life.

Compassionate service for every family

This long-standing tradition and attitude of caring and dignity provide you with every assurance that your funeral needs will be fulfilled professionally and with compassion.

We are a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, offering quality, compassionate care and service you can trust. Please also visit our other Dunbar Funeral Home locations, including Devine Street Chapel in Columbia and Dutch Fork Chapel on Woodrow Street in Irmo.

History

Signage at Dunbar Funeral Home - NortheastWe are part of the Dunbar family of funeral homes, which has served the people of South Carolina since 1884. Our Dunbar Funeral Home  Northeast location was opened in 2009. Since its founding, Dunbar has continued to grow and has remained a much-respected establishment. Our funeral homes still live up to the standards set forth by founder J.M. Van Metre in 1922, stating:

Our inspiration is to do the right thing at the right time in the right way, to do some things better than they were ever done before, to be courteous, to be an example, to work for love of the work, to anticipate requirements, to recognize no impediments, to master circumstances, to act from reason rather than rule, to be satisfied with nothing less than perfection.

This relentless dedication toward delivering a top-notch and compassionate service for everyone who walks through our doors is a tradition that will continue for generations to come.
