History

Front exterior at Green Funeral HomeFounder T. Raymond Green opened the doors to Green Funeral Home at 57 Main Street on October 14, 1935, in his hometown of Danbury, Connecticut. He and his wife, Marion, resided at the funeral home, where they not only worked but also raised their 2 children. In 1946, T. Raymond passed away and Marion obtained her funeral director's license and took full charge of the business.

Marion's legacy of integrity and kindness

Marion ran a successful business and established strong ties with the Portuguese community, who continue to trust Green Funeral Home with the care of their loved ones. Many families who come to us today have fond memories of Marion and speak highly of her integrity and kindness. The Green legacy and values did not end with her. In 1964, her son Thomas R. Green, became a funeral director and began his career continuing the legacy of his parents.

Close ties with the Danbury community

Tom was born and raised in Danbury, growing up at 57 Main Street. In 1966, he moved with his wife Mary to an apartment on the property and resided there until his growing family required a larger home. Thanks to Tom’s lifelong history in Danbury, his local political and personal involvement in the community, and his success as a reputable and kind business owner, it's hard to find anyone in the town who does not know him. Tom enjoys taking the time to talk to families.

There's a feeling of kinship and history between Tom and the families of Danbury that only a lifetime of dedicated service can create. Green Funeral Home would not have the success and reputation it does today without the solid foundation built by the Green family.

"Greens did my great grandfather, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, and father's funerals. Lots of relatives and friends of the family too. For a Catholic service in the Danbury CT area, it doesn't get any better than Greens Funeral home."
