First Memorial Funeral Services Harmony Chapel was originally established in the early 1990s as Harmony Funeral Services. Prior to that, the funeral home included an onsite livery stable to accommodate the horses needed for the carriage hearse. Operating as one of Edmonton, Alberta’s oldest funeral homes, we are located in the heart of the historic Old Strathcona district.

Historic and dignified funeral home facility
The architectural style of the early 1900s had a visionary appeal still very pleasing to the eye today, a beautiful asset to the Edmonton area. When first built, our funeral home was equipped and furnished with the most modern and innovative appliances and décor available at the time. While there have been some renovations to the building in recent years, the exterior and interior of First Memorial Harmony Chapel maintain much of its original, distinctive and dignified style.
Our air-conditioned chapel was built in 1959 and boasts seating for 190 guests. It is also equipped with an early 20th century pipe organ as well as modern CD and DVD audio-visual equipment to accommodate the wishes of any family.
Our visitation room features a welcoming private suite and can also be used by families to observe the service privately, should they choose to do so. The chapel also opens up to the visitation room to allow for overflow seating for larger services. A reception room off the chapel is available for after-service receptions as well. Our facilities also include a kitchen, providing an adequate area for storage and distribution of food and refreshments. With our professional catering service, we can take care of the food and drink so you can spend more time with family and friends.
Let's celebrate life
There are thousands of ways to celebrate a life. At First Memorial Harmony Chapel, our team excels at creating one-of-a-kind tributes that celebrate a person's passions and individuality. Was he the Edmonton Oilers' biggest fan? We can decorate the chapel in blue and orange and give guests personalized jerseys as keepsakes. Did she riding her horse? How about a processional on horseback with her trusty steed leading the way? No matter what you envision, we'll do everything we can to make it happen.
