A funeral home with a personal touch

Chapel at Markey-Dermody Funeral HomeOur beautiful brick funeral home, built on King Street East in 1987, has a warm, friendly appearance inside and out. We want you to feel as comfortable here as you do in your own home. The funeral home has handicap-accessible parking and a children’s play area near the coffee lounge.

Our compassion, dedication and expertise enable us to provide you with an extensive range of funeral and cremation services, but it's the personal touch we offer that is always most appreciated. Our commitment to quality care and excellent service are responsible for the reputation we have earned over the years.

Unique funeral and memorial services

Reception room at Markey-Dermody Funeral HomeAll of our services are designed to give families peace of mind at one of the most challenging times in their lives. Our staff knows just how to create your vision or bring your loved one's final wishes to reality. We offer everything from a traditional church funeral and cemetery burial to a modern celebration of life with live music, catering and a send-off that reflects the personality and passions of yourself or your loved one.

We go the extra mile—from finding her favorite flowers to ordering fishing lures as mementos for his memorial. The celebration of a lifetime begins here. As a member of the Dignity Memorial® network, Markey-Dermody Funeral Home gives you not only the warm, familiar attention you expect from a locally operated funeral home but also the value you deserve by way of the largest network of obituary, funeral, burial, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.

Please call us anytime, day or night, if you need help planning a funeral right away or would like to talk about planning ahead. We are here for you.

History

In 1971, William Markey bought 2 funeral homes in Hamilton from William Dermody. The P.X. Dermody funeral homes were located on East Avenue South and King Street East. When William Markey died in 1978, his wife, Mary, and son, Chris, continued to run both.

To better serve the Hamilton community, Mary and Chris built a new funeral home, and in 1987, the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home opened to families.
