About

Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary has served families on Kauaʻi since 1928. Located in old Kōloa town, the funeral home is about 20 minutes from Līhuʻe, near St. Raphael Church. Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary is a Poʻipū Road landmark, resembling a plantation building that hints of Kōloa’s history of Hawaiʻi’s first sugar cane plantation.

At Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary, we are honored to be a member of our community for 90 years and have established lasting relationships with generations of families. We appreciate and celebrate the diversity of Hawaiʻi and are non-denominational, welcoming all religions, cultures and backgrounds. We offer a selection of memorialization options, and we are dedicated to honoring the wishes and traditions of each family.

A Kōloa landmark funeral home

Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary has a chapel that seats up to 150 guests. The chapel has audiovisual equipment and an outdoor dining area for catered receptions. The facility is in a peaceful setting, surrounded by the natural beauty of Kauaʻi.

We are a proud team of dedicated professionals with several decades of experience in various funeral customs and traditions. We also take pride in having families represented with an up-to-date fleet of vehicles that are replaced every few years. A family’s comfort is very important to us.

History

Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary was established in 1928. The funeral home was originally operated by the Medeiros family. Hawaiian Memorial Life Plan acquired the funeral home in 1987 and renamed it Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary.

In 1992, Borthwick Kauaʻi Mortuary became a member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. As a Dignity Memorial affiliate, we are able to offer exclusive benefits to the families we serve, such as our Relocation Protection Program.

After many decades of serving our community, it is our goal to serve each family with compassion and respect.
