History

Calcaterra Funeral Home was established in The Hill neighborhood of St. Louis by Paul Calcaterra in 1921. Our 1st funeral service was held in 1931. In the early years, Paul did the embalming at Frank Borghi’s grandmother’s house on Cooper (now Marconi) Street. Frank and his wife, Rose, were longtime employees at Calcaterra and worked at the funeral home until they retired in 1998. Frank managed the funeral home after Paul's death in 1970.

A neighborhood landmark

Located on The Hill on Daggett Street, Calcaterra Funeral Home is truly a landmark of the Italian neighborhood. Although it’s been completely renovated since it opened in 1931, Calcaterra Funeral Home continues to meet the needs of the evolving St. Louis community.
