Our beautiful facility

Chapel at Glenhaven Memorial ChapelWe have a traditional chapel with a modern design and feel. This inviting space is the creation of warm colour tones like cream and yellow. The chapel has a rounded roof that is phenomenal in terms of acoustics. For any ceremony where music or singing will happen, this is an ideal location. The chapel comfortably seats up to 250 people. It is the largest chapel in the Vancouver area.

We also can accommodate larger services of up to 400 people with our overflow into our reception and lounge areas. These additional spaces are equipped with visual and audio hookups to view the ceremony in real time. For family and friends who can’t physically come to Vancouver, we also offer live streaming where you can watch the ceremony from anywhere around the world. Many of our immigrant families love this option for family members back home in distant countries.

The chapel is nondenominational. However, we offer a variety of religious symbols if you’d like to include religious elements into the funeral service. Our chapel is also known for our beautiful stained glass artwork, The Tree of Life.

Adjacent to the chapel is the South Lounge, which is a large visitation suite. The South Lounge can also be used as a chapel for more intimate services of smaller numbers. This area is ideal for those who would prefer solitude and privacy. The visitation suite can also be separated into 2 smaller suites for evening visitations if you so choose.

Wheelchair accessible

Our entire facility is wheelchair accessible, which is an important factor for our elderly and physically challenged visitors.

Celebration of life

Reception room at Glenhaven Memorial ChapelWe want every family to know they have the ability to truly personalize a ceremony for their loved one. While the staff at Glenhaven Memorial Chapel is well versed in traditional funeral services, we also offer a variety of services to memorialize each life. One popular option is our celebration of life ceremony.

Our trained staff celebrants speak with family and friends to learn what made the life of their loved one unique. Our celebrants then design a celebratory event around the hopes, passions and personality of that loved one. This personalization can manifest in many different ways. One man was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider and played in a rock band. For his ceremony, we arranged for his motorcycle to be displayed in the chapel while his band played a concert.

This is just one example of personalized services. If you’re interested in a celebration of life ceremony, feel free to let our staff know and we’ll take you through the entire process.

Burial and transportation options

While we do not perform our own burials, we work closely with many local cemeteries, including Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Ocean View Burial Park. We are willing and able to conduct graveside services at multiple cemeteries and churches.

We understand many Vancouver people may wish to be buried elsewhere, especially in our Aboriginal and Asian communities. Our staff is very well versed in handling the dignified transportation of earthy remains around the world.

Multicultural and Asian services

Unique features fireplace at Glenhaven Memorial ChapelWe serve people of all cultures and backgrounds. Glenhaven Memorial Chapel is especially experienced at funeral and memorial services for the Chinese, Japanese, Buddhist, Christian and Indigenous communities. Our staff speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin. We’ve found our multilingual staff members to be especially useful for families where multiple languages are spoken.

Our location is less than a mile away from our rich Chinatown in Vancouver. For our Asian populations, we have service packages to accommodate the traditional funeral customs. This includes a range of elements, including burning offerings and lycee. For Buddhist, we can conduct table sits, incense burning and other customs of the religion.

Cremation services

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

  • Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
  • Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
  • Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.
