Martha was born in Drzivie, Poland, and immigrated to Canada when she was 5 years old with her parents Natalya and Gottfried Kaus. The family settled and farmed in Pinewood, Ontario. She was attending College when the Dean asked her to teach school in Manitoba. After teaching school in a one room school house for a year, the family moved west to Abbotsford, BC.
Marty met and married Cornelius Siemens in 1948 and had 2 daughters, Diana and Sharon.
Over the years she ran many businesses, including the Haidaway Café in Matsqui Village and Granny’s Restaurant in Aldergrove, enjoying friendships with customers and feeding the less fortunate.
Marty travelled to Mexico one year and to Hawaii 3 times. She even sang with Don Ho on stage.
She is survived by daughters Diana and Sharon, son-in-laws Steve Jokuthy and Ed Dennis, grandchildren Colin, Leane, Jessica, Melissa, and great grandchildren Natalya and Jaden.
