John was born 12-1-38 in New York. As a small child he moved to California with his parents where he grew up living on the Pacific Ocean. He spent many hours on the beach. After graduating from High School, John started working for IBM in Customer Service. Forty-six years later he retired from IBM after having been moved many times, as in “I Have Been Moved” (IBM). He retired while living in Bradenton, Florida. John and Marcia, his wife of many years, had three girls: Maggie (of Arizona), Connie (of South Florida), and Kelly (deceased).
Late Fall of 2004, John and Joyce were married. They enjoyed retirement, travel, and their new “expanded” families while living in the Villages, Deland, and the Lutheran Haven. The last 5 + years has been spent learning how to deal with the effects of John’s developing Alzheimer’s as gracefully as possible by the whole family. Many prayers have guided our family through this difficult time of decisions to be made. After spending time in the hospital and memory care, John died peacefully on 5/28/20 at his home in The Landings at Lutheran Haven, Oviedo, Florida.
John is survived by his daughters, sons-in-laws (Paul Nelson and Dave Daly), and two grandchildren Ashley & Triston. Locally, he is survived by his wife Joyce McClintock (Lidke) and his stepdaughters, Carin and Nora; their husbands -Edwin Spitzer and Kyle VandenBrink, and grandchildren Victoria and Nicholas Reyes, and Trevor and Avery Wright.
