Jamestown - Tonie Darlene Grissom Comer, age 71, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday January 27, 2019 at Hospice Home of High Point. She battled cancer bravely for 9 years before her passing.
She was born November 9, 1947 in High Point, North Carolina to William Harold Grissom and Lois Neese Grissom.
She attended True Gospel Baptist Church in Trinity, North Carolina for many years. She attended Business College after graduating from Lucy Coffin Ragsdale High School and was employed by Lincoln Financial in Greensboro, North Carolina for 5 years before being diagnosed with cancer. She was also an employee of FMCA (Furniture Manufacturers Credit Association) for 17 years prior to that.
She loved watching westerns and cooking shows. She had an infectious personality, a kind soul and she never met a stranger. She will be remembered fondly by all as someone who fought fearlessly and wholeheartedly in everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tina Aikens and daughter, April Comer.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Farrell Comer; daughter, Michelle Turney and husband Jimmy Turney of High Point, North Carolina; daughter, Amanda Aikens of High Point, North Carolina and daughter, Angie Comer of Pulaski, Virginia. Also she is survived by grandchildren, Stephen, Brianna, Maleah, Dameana, Chelsea, Katlin and Michelle; great grandchildren, Zion, Ahnah and Mason; also brother, Jack Grissom and wife Linda of Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday January 31 at 12 noon at True Gospel Baptist Church in Trinity, North Carolina with Pastor Rick Shoemaker officiating and processional to follow to Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends Wednesday, January 30 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Sechrest Funeral Service at 120 Trindale Road in Archdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her name to Hospice Home of High Point or the American Cancer Society.
