PAUL ANTHONY WINKEL (77) went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2020. Paul was born to William and Helen Wallenthin Winkel on April 29, 1942 in Denver, Colorado. At age three he was placed in an orphanage where he lived and was schooled through 8th grade. High School was spent as a boarder at Mullen High School.
Paul was employed as an over the road truck driver. He and his late wife, Judy Case Winkel, traveled through all 48 mainland states until her death in 1994. He then drove a mail truck transporting mail from Colorado to Utah until his retirement.
With a desire to keep him in the family after their daughter's death, Helen and Kenneth Case offered an adult adoption and became his adoptive parents.
He attended St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton. He enjoyed bowling, puzzles, travel, traditional country and big band music, viewing all sports events, and, especially, his family. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He felt blessed to see parts of the world he never thought he would see in his retirement years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Barbara Anderson Winkel, his children, including blended family children: John Winkel, Kevin Winkel, Troy Winkel, Robert (Charlotte) Holtz, Scott (Jennifer) Harbison, Karen Allen, Jennifer (Tim) Clark; Grandchildren: Miranda (Justin Heaton) Winkel, Alyssa Winkel, Emily Harbison, Hannah Holtz, Michael Harbison, Brayden Greer, Andrew Holtz, Rachel Harbison, Torri Clark, Reina Clark and Jaxon Clark. He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald Winkel, his sister Kathaleen (Dave) Wudel, sister-in-law, Marcia (Parke) Stoltzfuss, and nephews Jason (Tracy) Kilpatrick, Keith Winkel, Joe Winkel and nieces Laura (Jim) Mitch, Lisa (Bryan) Boas, Tracy (Dean) Schmidt and Carol (Rob) Webber.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Patty Winkel and his brother, Dr. Vance Case.
Since there can be no services at this time, donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or St. James Presbyterian Church Food Ministry, 3601 West Belleview Avenue, Littleton, CO 80123.
He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
