Funeral services will be held at Morgan Funeral Chapel, in Attalla, on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of the service at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Bro. Roger Beshears to officiate.
Byron graduated from Southside High School with the Class of 94’. He went on the graduate from Gadsden State Community College with an AAS Degree in Radiologic Technology. He worked many years as a MRI Tech at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Floyd Medical Center.
Byron was the life of the party. He loved laughing and making others laugh, yet there were times he was quiet and reserved, but always made sure you knew he was present in the room. Byron loved his friends, and would laugh while reminiscing about fun times together. He loved his music. Never would you see him without his earbuds. He was a huge fan of Pearl Jam and an avid Nascar fan and of his all-time favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. His impressive Nascar car collection is profound, and he would use it as a topic in many conversations.
He loved his animals. Many were strays that somehow found a home at his house. The cats would follow him like little ducklings to and from his Pops house daily. Every evening after feeding the multitude of stray cats, he would say “What you want for supper Pops”. He had two dogs that became his very best friends, Pretty Girl and Charlie. He loved his nieces and considered them his own. Byron never had children of his own, so he made sure he spoiled them. He was known to them as “Bubba”.
Byron will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his best friend and brother, Brandon. While our hearts mourn the loss of Bubba, we take comfort in knowing his body is whole again, and no longer hurting. He is now in the arms of his mom again in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Townsel; brother, Wayne Townsel; grandparents, H.C. and Odenie Humphrey, and Edgar “Buster” and Eunice Willmore Townsel.
Byron is survived by his father, Bobby Townsel; brother, Brandon (Angie) Townsel; sister, Peggy Brown; special nieces and nephews, Hannah Grant, Elise Townsel, Kyndal (Tyler) Elliott, Courtney (Corey) Jarrells, and Clint Brown.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Townsel, Jud Burford, Greg Humphrey, Tyler Elliott, Tyler Tullis, Jason Tucker, John David Johnson, Kevin Agan, Zack Johnson, and Wes Huffman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his dogs, Charlie and Pretty Girl; cats, Larry, Moe, Curly, Poncho, and Zoe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to the Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center at https://hsprac.com.
The family would like to extend a special thanks given to Gadsden Regional Medical Center, UAB-MCCU, and Foothills Family Medicine.
