Auburn-Barbara Ann Brown – Mongeau Passed away on August 26, 2021 At Bolster Heights.
Barbara was born on February 19, 1928 to Eloise Shaw - Brown and Maurette Brown at CMMC in Lewiston, Maine
She was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School. She enjoyed the times she spent with her grandparents and other relatives in the South Paris and Norway area during school vacations and summers.
She met and married her high school sweetheart – John Paul Mongeau in 1946. They had three children, Steven, Elaine and Donna. They loved to bring the whole family camping almost every weekend for many years. There were many fun, wet, hot and intriguing experiences while camping and visiting most of the parks in the New England area, as well as a two week camping trip to Niagra Falls, with so many wonderful experiences, we will never forget. Later on John and Barbara bought a camp on Sebago Lake and spent many years there with family and friends before selling it, buying a motor home and traveling across America and back. They finally settled in Thonotosassa, Florida for the winters and stayed in Poland, Maine for the summers. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting. She made many, many mittens, hats and afghans for family, friends and the Methodist church organizations, both in Maine and in Florida. She also spent many hours doing puzzles, the harder the better.
She worked for many companies throughout her career years – Gieger Bros – Auburn Motor Sales – Senter’s Department Store – Lewiston Gas Company and she retired from Central Maine Medical Center in 1983.
She is survived by her brother – Keith Brown and his wife Marie of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; sister – Dorothy McIntyre of Melbourne, Florida, brother- Maurette Brown, Jr and his wife Louise of Lewiston, Maine; brother - James Brown and his wife Lynn of Seffner, Florida; sister - Linda Bolduc and her husband, Mike of Lewiston, Maine, daughters – Elaine Bourgoin and Donna Gelinas, both of Poland, Maine, and daughter-in-law – Pat Mongeau of Lewiston, Maine.
