

Auburn - Robert W. Tibbetts, 95, died Wednesday, April 8th at Clover Living Center. He was born August 3, 1919 in South Portland, the a son of Joseph W. and Ella Carter Tibbetts. He was educated in South Portland schools and graduated from South Portland High School. Bob worked for the Maine Central Railroad at Portland Terminal Co. for 37 years, retiring November 28, 1979. He worked with his brother, Lawrence, doing carpentry work and lawn care for many years following his retirement. He was a faithful member of Court Street Baptist Church and was also a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. He enjoyed camping in Naples on Long Lake for many years. He also enjoyed walking, and up until a year ago many times would walk as much as 6 miles a day. He was a devoted Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching their games. Bob is survived by nieces and nephews, Marjorie and Richard Brouillette of Auburn, James and Judith Drummond of New Gloucester, and Elwood Arbo of Zephyrhills, Florida. He also is survived by 7 great nieces and nephews; and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph E. and Lawrence E. Tibbetts; and three sisters, Mildred Brown, Ella Drummond and Evelyn Tibbetts. Visitation Fortin Auburn Saturday April 11, from 9-10 AM. Funeral will follow at the funeral home at 10 AM. Committal will be held later this spring at Highland Cemetery in S. Portland. Those wishing to make donations in his name may do so to Court St. Baptist Church 129 Court St. Auburn, ME 04210.
