LEWISTON – Roland Roger Blais passed away peacefully surrounded by family Jan, 8, 2019. Roland was born in Lewiston April 30, 1935 to Armond and Francoise Blais. He attended St. Dom’s school before joining the Navy. Roland was stationed on the USS Saratoga as a radar technician. After his service in the Navy he went on to meet the love of his life Rolande Cantin. They were married August 1961 in Lewiston and together had three sons. Roland worked in construction for Blue Rock Industry for over 25 years. After his time in construction he worked for the city of Lewiston Public Works Division until retirement.
Roland was known in his family as a master of all trades, able to fix, make, cook, or build anything. He enjoyed fishing, telling jokes, spending time with his family and friends. Roland “Rolly” played a huge role in opening Rolly’s Diner with his wife “Rolly” and son Ken. In his younger day he loved flying recreational airplanes with friends.
Roland is survived by his wife Rolande; sons Steve, Ken and wife Jean, and Jeff; grandchildren Justin, Sadie and her husband Chris, and Jordan and his wife Casey; great-grandchildren Avery and Emery; brother Norm and sister Silvia Dubois. Roland was predeceased by his parents; and his brother Donald.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Fortin/Auburn, 217 Turner St. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul (upper church), at 11a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. A committal service will follow at St. Peters Cemetery. A reception will follow at Fortin/Auburn.
