Luisito Martin Lafuente, 70, of Hephzibah, GA passed away on April 22. His family and friends affectionately called him Louie. He enjoyed being around people, and everyone can agree that he was a fun and easy-going guy. Louie loved his cars almost as much as he enjoyed food. Oh, how he enjoyed attending parties and long driving.
Mr. Lafuente entered the U.S. Army in 1972 but found his calling to serve as dental technician in the army, which he did for fourteen years. After the military, he became a devoted civilian technician at the Dental Laboratory in Ft. Gordon serving for twenty-five years until his retirement. There, his co-workers appreciated his positive attitude and looked forward to seeing his mischievous smile which was always coupled with an entertaining joke.
More than his years in a laboratory, Mr. Lafuente can be described as a family man. He is survived by Joy Lafuente (wife), Anita Lafuente (mother), Brian Lafuente (son), Mila Lafuente Concepcion (sister), Pamela, Pauline, and Marylou (nieces), Maricar, Marjorie, and Harold (step-children). Though he only had one biological son, he was a father figure to many. Mrs. Lafuente affectionately describes her husband as very loving, sweet, and true. The family misses his laugh and infectious smile.
During this time, there will not be a public viewing. The family has elected for an intimate cremation with a celebration of life to be planned for a later date. Ultimately, Mr. Lafuente will be laid to rest in Vancouver, Canada where his wife’s family resides. You are welcome to contact the family to express your sentiments.
Special thanks to the staff at Fresanious Kidney Care in Hephzibah and Veterans Hospital for taking care of him over the years.
